10 of My Favorite Quotes about Love and Relationships
As you’ve seen on my Facebook page, I love quotes… writing them, reading them, and sharing them. Here are 10 of my favorites, and I hope you enjoy them.
“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, love like you’ll never be hurt, sing like there’s nobody listening, and live like it’s heaven on earth.”
–William W. Purkey
Live in the moment. Yes!
“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing, and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.”
— Ann Landers
Isn’t this what we’re all looking for?
“Love is always bestowed as a gift – freely, willingly, and without expectation. We don’t love to be loved; we love to love.”
If you can do this, you’ll never lack for love. So many of us give love to receive love—how many of us can truly say we give with no expectation of receiving?
“Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself—and especially to feel. Or not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That’s what real love amounts to – letting a person be what he really is.”
“The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.”
Both quotes say essentially the same thing. When you let a person be himself or herself, you give the greatest gift you possibly can. Think of how many men and women are hiding their authentic selves for the sake of a relationship.
“Love casts out fear, but we have to get over the fear in order to get close enough to love them.”
Fear smothers relationships. When you get past the fear, it doesn’t matter what happens, because you’re OK with it.
“Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible – it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment and offer you more joy than any material possession could.”
–Barbara de Angelis
Love is the most magical force in the universe, and it really does make the world go round.
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
Self-love has to be there before any other love can enter your heart.
“The first duty of love is to listen.”
If we listened a little more, all our relationships would be stronger, less tense, and more loving.
“Love is of all passions the strongest, for it attacks simultaneously the head, the heart, and the senses.”
And with that, I leave you and wish you all the love you deserve.
